Insignificant Others is the second original musical by San Francisco composer and lyricist, Jay Kuo. This romantic comedy follows the stories of five friends—Margaret, Jeannine, Kristen, Jordan and Luke—who move to San Francisco from the Midwest. Through hilarity and heartbreak, the friends rediscover the bonds they have to one another.
ISO was presented as a staged reading in May of 2005 at St. Gregory of Nyssa Church in San Francisco. In the summer of 2005, ISO received an AIRspace (Artist in Residence) award from the Jon Sims Center for the Arts, where it underwent its second workshop.
In October of that same year, ISO received a prestigious Theatre Bay Area CA$H grant and staged four workshop performances at the Jon Sims Center on January 5, 6 and 7, 2006.
ISO played to sold-out houses for five straight weekends during the summer of 2006 as part of The New Conservatory Theatre Center’s in-concert series under the direction of George Quick.
In the summer of 2007, ISO returns to the stage at Yerba Buena Center’s “Zeum” Theatre, in the heart of San Francisco’s Arts District. ISO roars back bigger and better than ever, with a live band and expanded cast. Don’t miss the must-see hit show of the summer!
